Marina del Rey Lifestyle Features

Marina del Rey CA has earned no small renown for its unique, So Cal location and design. Not to mention, its outstanding waterfront living and boating attractions. In fact, it’s said to be the largest man-made harbor in the U.S. Although, that was not always the case. The coveted Marina Del Rey lifestyle features that we see today, did not even exist, until later in the 20th century.

The Marina was once the Playa del Rey, natural estuary. And, in the early days of interest for the area, some people envisioned it as a harbor, for commercial usage. Although, it was not until sometime after WWII that making it into a harbor began to take form. Then, it was opened in the 1960s, not as a commercial but as a pleasure boat harbor.  Since then, Marina del Rey has lived up to its profile and provided for countless boating activities and highly sought-after ocean/harbor side living.

Marina del Rey Lifestyle Features, Homes and Recreation

An array of exclusive apartments and hotels, a tucked away beach and a yacht club make up many of the land side features of the harbor. And, literally thousands of boats shelter on its inlets. Boats move in and out of the harbor regularly, as they head out to sea or return from an ocean pleasure trip.

It’s easy to see why people flock to the harbor. And, competition for living and boat use space remains high. In fact, some of the most expensive CA real estate sits in this comparatively small but densely populated area of Los Angeles.

All about waterfront living and oceanside recreation, the immediate area includes many more homes and apartments on the harbor’s Pacific side. Some huddle in close proximity to the mouth of the harbor. Others huddle near or right on white sand beaches, just past the harbor, directly facing a sparkling ocean.

No other similar, man-made harbor in the U.S. quite compares to Marina del Rey lifestyle features. Its idyllic location, waterfront real estate and immediate access to pleasure boating remains unmatched. At least, that is what a resident or boating enthusiast of the area will likely tell you.
