Each year kids and adults alike look forward to Halloween. Since it’s a great time to get plenty of delicious treats and wear interesting costumes, that makes some sense. Although sadly, Halloween is also infamous for errant schemes and mischief, even harmful actions. And, those unaware can and have often fallen victim. Not good! As a result this season, all of us should be committed to staying safe, standing up and saying, “Not this time!” At the same time, whatever it takes to ensure our safety and the safety of others must be front and center in what we plan and do. That said, how do you protect yourself during Halloween?
Staying aware is at the top of the list of safe practices for any holiday time. And, here at LaRoche Team, we want Everyone to have a safe, enjoyable Halloween. As a result, we provided a list of things people can do to protect themselves. Some may be obvious, others may be welcome advice. Although, we hope all of them are helpful.
Protect Yourself During Halloween With Safe Practices and Awareness
Children
Kids are our top priority. Of course, never let them inside a home to accept anything. And, that should especially be a non-issue, with social distancing encouraged. At the same time, Halloween is a great time to turn the recommendation for masks into fun, with many choices in any number of costumes.
-Go with and be with your child/children at all times, in small family groups. Keep them in neighborhoods and go to homes you are familiar with. Although, their school may host a Halloween event they can attend. At the same time, you may have another, creative idea. For example, a yard decoration contest with the neighbors, and a dress-up to match your theme. As a result, it may satisfy the prospect of kids having fun and increase your confidence in their safety.
-Go nowhere that is not lit well. That includes front porches, streets, and so on. And, be back home early. No late birdies.
-Don’t allow them to touch or eat what they receive, until back at home. Then, inspect all trick-or-treat items and the bags or buckets. Throw away Anything you’re not sure about. For example, it’s opened, it’s not packaged, or it’s a fruit something can be hidden away in.
Adults
Grown ups should be similarly ready to enjoy Halloween safely. Although, different arrangements may be made, for a party, staying out later, and so on, protect yourself during Halloween with safe practices and awareness. In fact, keen awareness of your surroundings and situation, at any given time may be your best companion.
-Don’t go out alone. And, starting early will be your best bet for avoiding a late return.
-For your home, arm the security system, if you have one. Lock your doors and windows. Make sure your valuables are safe. And, it’s smart to have a smart doorbell or outdoor security camera, with night vision. In fact, it’s wise to check and make sure your smoke detector works, before you light a candle.
-At home, consider giving mini party bag favors. You can easily place a few of them out in a bowl, in a well-lit spot near your door. Simply check when they are gone. Add another few each time. It’s a great way to minimize contact, while at the same time offer a great treat option, and maximize hygiene for many, little hands.
All of us here at the LaRoche Team wish everyone a Safe and Happy Halloween!
